dizzy (highland) heights

Scotland (the highlands to be precise) was indeed bonny. It was a glorious week of parties and indulging my sweet tooth. We made quick time there, made speedier by the wonderful scenery and heather topped hills and also a Mcdonalds break. During our week there we ambled around the surrounding villages which housed a veritable treasure trove of antique and vintage shops, including one incredibly stocked shop full to the brim with strange but wonderful items. (i made my way out with an Edwardian white blouse and striped dress.) We also took a visit to the Cairngorms National Park and stomped around the ancient old pines and made a lazy attempt at hiking up a small mountain.

On our last day we made our way to Loch Ness (how could we leave out a chance meeting with monsters!) and explored Urquhart Castle- the views from the top of the tower were incredible. Absolutely amazing! I feel like i am now quite the expert on the Loch Ness Monster as i only took along two books- Anne of Green Gables and Anne of the Island (i have read both about a billion times) and i got to the sad parts in both of them and knew i would weep buckets if i carried on reading, so i found a book on the monster to amuse myself instead.... Did you know in 1976 an attempt was made to lure Nessie to the surface of the water by throwing bacon out of a hot air balloon on to the loch below. For reasons unknown she did not appear.

my nose is swollen here cos i bumped it :( potato nose :(

These were taken in the garden around our house in the setting sun by my dear friend. Keep your eyes peeled for pictures of the Scottish landscapes and not of boring ol'me. (though i may spoil you all with a picture of me looking my absolute best (worst) drunk on whisky)

Right I am going to bid you all adieu now as I crawl into bed and try and recover from this weeks revelry.

  1. Throwing bacon didn't work? Truly this is a fearsome beast we should not be messing with. I'm not sure if I want to see something that would turn down bacon. I'm glad you had fun though, and it's a shame you didn't spot Nessie. Maybe next time :)

We did go to the Loch Ness Monster experience though (which was more an experience in paying £10 to see blurry pictures of something that MAY have been NESSIE dunn dunn dahhh....but also (in real small font underneath) may just have been a floating log O_O) xoxoxo

  7. OHHH. Your trip sounds perfect!

And you're a dear friend of Anne-with-an-e too? I love that dear girl. L.M. Montgomery was my favourite author for so long. She got bumped down on the list, but she still holds a special place in my heart. ("Bumped down on the list"? I sound so brutal. XD)

You suit the outdoors very well, lovely Tilly. xxx
